While countering the Malayan Communist Party insurgency in Malaya, the state employed two different strategies. In the end, the state recognized that the insurgency was elitist based and launched a successful counter- leadership targeting campaign to defeat the insurgency. While countering the Shining Path insurgency in Peru, the state employed three different strategies. Conclusions will then be drawn about the relevance of pursuing a universal counter-insurgency strategy. Two Maoist insurgencies will be analyzed to determine the effect of the state's strategy on the insurgent. I will test this hypothesis against the most difficult form of insurgency.

Better night vision devices are available, but they cost more which may prevent the player from including other things on their loadout. Some night vision devices are cheap but have potentially undesirable downsides such as a small field of view or an overly blurry image. The player does not automatically spawn with night vision goggles so they will need to use the supply points to equip them. What’s more, the enemies will always have night vision or flashlight with which they use to spot you. Unless the player has night vision, they are unable to see what's going on. Insurgency features quite a few maps set in the dead of night.
